The airstrip is located at less than one kilometre to the East of Ukunda township, and 30 kilometres to the South of Mombasa. It is linked by the A14 high-way the main road from Mombasa to Tanzania passing through the Likoni ferry.
Facilities:
The current runway is 1,100 metres long and 20 metres wide. It's magnetic orientation is 01/19. It is classified as a class 1B with ICAO code. It is linked to the apron by two short cross taxiways of 10 metres width.
The apron area is located near the runway threshold 01. It has an area of about 5,000 metres square, and can accommodate 3 DHC6 aircraft simultaneously.
Terminal facilities:
An existing building of about 150 square metres is currently being used as an airport service building,accommodating passenger's documentation formalities and some offices. The building is supplied from the public water network general amenities at not very good.
There are no ATC facilities as well as no navigational facilities.
Potential: The airstrip is very important as it serves the South Coast based hotels.
