The Kecoso Golf Tournament which acts as a curtain raiser each year for the Kecoso games was held this year at Machakos Golf Club on the 24th of July 2010.
The tournament had a great turnout with 107 golfers registering from golf clubs all over Kenya. Kenya Airports Authority was represented by Yatich Kangugo- Moi International Airport , Patrick Kae – Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and for the first time in the ladies category Selina Gor - JKIA
The Kecoso Golf tournament has been the battle ground for the most skilled golf players within the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Information and Communication, and the Parastatals that fall under them. The tournament saw many noteworthy golfers such as C. Odoo, S. Kibe, D. Kaunda, J Ondigo and J. Asewe participate.
Kenya Airports Authority was the top Parastatal with Yatich Kangugo winning the overall Kecoso prize while Selina Gor the overall Kecoso ladies prize.
This year’s tournament was even more exciting as the senior executives from the member organizations who are non golfers were allowed to participate and test their skills at putting on the green, and points accrued during this tournament added to the overall marks of the main Kecoso event.
During this event, Mr. Dickson Nyandika Ministry of Information and Communication was the overall winner with the Director General Communication Commission of Kenya Mr. Charles Njoroge coming in second and Mrs. Ado Alkama General Manager Human Resource Postal Corporation third.
The Machakos Golf Club is a nine-hole golf course at the heart of Machakos town. The course has indigenous grass at its fairways and more `browns' than there are `greens'. The interesting holes are said to be the seventh, which is the toughest and eighth.
